Loyal Union Sampler Blocks 61, 62, 63, 64 and 65/121

Hello again,

Here’s another five blocks from the Loyal Union Sampler by Jennifer Chiaverini.

I’m very excited about the first block as it marks the half way point in the construction of all the blocks. It’s called Kentucky Crossroads and what a test of patience it was!

This one is Ladies Aid Block. Quite straightforward to make and definitely one to remember for future projects.

Third is Libby Prison. It’s a bit like Churn Dash.

The next one is Lincoln. I love this one!

Finally, Lost Children.

This is where I’m up to now.

Only one more needed to complete row 6. Not quite on the home straight yet but I’m feeling like I’m getting there. I’m trying to stay motivated enough to make five blocks every week. Kentucky Crossroads didn’t leave much energy for another four this time. It’s a good job I made it first.

Hopefully, there’ll be another five to show you next week. I’ll try :-).

Loyal Union Sampler Blocks 56, 57, 58, 59 and 60/121

Hello everyone,

Here’s another five blocks to add to the Loyal Union Sampler from the book by Jennifer Chiaverini.

First up is Indiana. This one reminds me of a Storm at Sea block but it’s a bit simpler.F-1 IndianaSecond is Iowa Star with some unusual angles. The book gives instructions for making this one in the traditional way or using a foundation paper piecing method. I chose the latter without stitching through the paper.
F-2 Iowa StarThis is a popular one. I’ve seen it in loads of quilts. It’s Jewel Box.F-3 Jewel BoxJonathan’s Satchel is next. Not as easy as it looks!F-4 Jonathan's SatchelFinally, this is Kansas Star. Again similar to a Storm at Sea block (and Indiana above). It’s my favourite in this group because of the lovely star it’s got in the centre which seems to happen by accident due to colour placement.F-5 Kansas StarThis is where I’m at so far. It’s still a lot of fun to sew, especially as I’m almost half finished!

LUS 60 Blocks Have a fun and crafty weekend!
