13th April?? No way!!!

Good afternoon to all of my lovely readers from across the globe 🙂 I hope you are all well and having fun crafting or doing what you enjoy most.

I’ve been away for a while and missed you all sooooo much. However, don’t worry……..while I was away I did a lot of sewing YEY! That means I have another finished project to share with you. My Bothy Threads Cut Thru Narrow Boat cross stitch kit is complete.

Now I just need to order a frame and get it up on the wall with the others. I really enjoyed sewing this one as it is densely stitched. There are many thread colours and lots of detail. Bothy Threads kits are lovely to stitch as they include quality fabric and threads and the charts are always very clear.

It’s been fun, fun, fun to make up.

Even though I’ve stitched every single stitch, I’m still finding new things in the picture when I take another look. I like the cartoon appearance of the design.

“What’s happened to the patchwork?” I hear you ask 🙂

Well, I always change the calendar date in my sewing room when I work at the sewing machine. I couldn’t believe the date when I was last in there. It was the 13th of April!!! Not only that, but I hadn’t tidied away or vacuumed the floor last time I finished sewing. I always clean up when I finish a project. What on Earth got into me? So, this morning I got out the furniture polish and cleaned down all the surfaces after putting all of the “stuff” back in its proper place. The floor is now free from threads etc. which is good because the carpet in there is very dark and it shows every speck of muck. So tomorrow I’m going back in there to start something new on the machine. Who knows what it will be……but the green mean sewing machine will definitely get some welly tomorrow 🙂

Also, while I have been away, the little award fairies have been dropping in on me and leaving nominations so I’ll deal with those now. Those of you who know me well, know I like to bend the rules. To be honest, this time I wasn’t going to do that. However, as two awards have landed in my lap almost together, I’ll break the rules just a tad 😉

First up is Angela from Pretty Little Things in a Box. She took part in my blackwork stitch along and has very kindly nominated my blog for this award.

I really like the title of this award as it really does feel like having a virtual family here on wordpress 🙂

Secondly, a big thank you to Jean from Creative Pixie who has nominated my blog for this award called the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award.

As usual, the acceptance of the awards come with their own set of rules. The first award asks you to nominate 10 worthy blogs and the second one requires 14. So, I’m going to nominate a grand total of 13 and split it 7 to 6.

My nominations for the “Being Part of the WordPress Family Award” in no particular order are:

Minerva’s Meanderings

Sew Rosey

Nero’s Post and Patch

Treadle Music

The award rules can be found here.

My nominations for the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award, again in no particular order are:

One Lady and One Dog

Thread Medley

Basildon Kitchens

Made by Patch

Quilt Obsession

The award rules can be found here.

I can certainly recommend all of the above for different reasons. This is quite a mixed bag for you to enjoy!

And last but not least…..

Megan at Lindashee has sent me some photos of the needle case she made by adapting my mug rug tutorial. Not only did she re-invent the pattern to suit her own needs but she also designed and stitched the cross stitch heart on the front cover. Isn’t it fabulous? Thank you for sharing the photos Megan. If anyone else uses the tutorial, please send me a photo. I’d be more than happy to include it in a future post 🙂

So, if you have got this far…..thanks for sticking with me in my absence. It’s always good to read your comments and I really enjoy your emails too 🙂

Now, I’ve got a lot of catching up to do on the Reader.

Back soon!

The Mystery Blackwork SAL Gallery

Hi everyone,

I thought you might like to see the Works In Progress from the Stitch Along so far. We are now three weeks into the project and there are a further three stages to go.

If you’ve missed the first parts but would like to stitch along with us, the latest chart will be posted tomorrow. You can join the group at any time and catch up with the rest of us at your leisure. Please let me know you are stitching along 🙂 If you are already stitching along, please send me a photo of your stitching by email (address on the right) and I’ll include it in the gallery below 🙂

I hope you like them all!

The secret is out!

Hi everyone,

I can now reveal my final secret project. I hope you like it 🙂

I’ve been busy working on this secret project for what seems like ages. Not only was it difficult to find all the different shades of fabrics required, but working with so much black….Ugh!! Hand stitching the binding to the back of the quilt was a complete nightmare due to the lack of daylight up here in the North. Anyway, it is finally finished and the recipient is very pleased with it so I’m very happy too 😀

I quilted spirals on the game blocks and dense squiggles on the name and around the borders.

This quilt is my own design and I’ve had a lot of fun keeping the secret 🙂

Have you been up to anything secret lately?

Another secret revealed!

Hi everybody 🙂

Happy birthday to my sister!!

At last I can reveal my sparkly scarf project which I made for my sister’s birthday. A few weeks ago we took my Mum to Harrogate Knitting and Stitching show and my sister admired the sparkly scarves on display at one of the stands. She would have bought one but we quickly realised they were selling the yarn to make them and not the finished articles. Everyone is so busy at this time of year. She knew there would be no time to knit for herself so we walked away.

Then, I had an opportunity 😉 I rushed back to the stall while my Mum and sister were “lost in the crowds” and bought the yarn. To be honest, I didn’t relish the thought of knitting with it as the texture is quite lumpy bumpy. However, it is a lot softer than it looks and it knit up really fast on large needles. I am really pleased with the result.

It would have looked better modelled on a black outfit…..but I don’t have one ha-ha!

I hope you are all well and still have a little time to craft before the holiday. Lots of you must be holding back secret projects until after Christmas. Looks like it is going to be a very revealing New Year 😀 I can’t wait to see what you have all been up to!!

Meet Archie!

Hi everyone. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

It has been a while since I have posted due to the trapped nerve which is still not 100% fixed and won’t allow me to sew……

and more recently, this little fellow 🙂

Meet Archie the labrador retriever.

Isn’t he gorgeous? Here he is with his Kong. It has been stuffed with grated apple and then frozen. Lovely for a hot day like today.

and again nom nom nom….he just can’t quite get the last bit out!

So there you go. This post is really just to whet your appetite for another blog which will be featuring Archie and all of his adventures soon. I will publish the address in a future post and would love you to follow and share tips and advice. I will definitely be needing both!

Watch this space 😀

Something to share…..at last!

I’ve been busy with the shop for the last few days but getting back on track again now! Busy, busy, busy, phew 🙂

I’ve just added the black background to my French Braids that I made at Christmas. So here is a sneak preview. I hope you like it 🙂 The whole quilt top is massive!! I think this one will have to be quilted with PIZAZZZ! Maybe some sparkle or beads or both 🙂

I haven’t made French Braids before and after I made these ones with jelly roll strips, my daughter bought me a book with lots of other designs in. I just know I’ll make more! This one is just my own design. It took a while to work it all out because I wanted to use exactly 50 two and a half inch strips cut across the width of fabric 🙂

Happy Tuesday everyone 🙂 I’m off to see what you’ve all been up to.
