Foot²Freestyle 2015 Blocks for August

Good afternoon everyone,

I’ve just popped in to give an update on the F2F block swap organised by Kate.

August is the month we are all sending three blocks to Susan in the USA. She has already acknowledged receipt of my blocks so it is OK to show you photos here now. Susan requested red and white or blue and white or some of each. Her colour choice was right up my street.

Before I decided which patterns to make I crawled all over Susan’s blog, trying to get an idea of the type of blocks and fabrics she would like. I noticed that she makes a lot of lovely stars and mostly with small prints🙂 So, it was an easy choice for me.

I hadn’t made the “star in a star” block before these ones but I know I’m going to make a lot more. I wouldn’t say it was an easy block to make but there was a lot of Happy Dancing going on in my sewing room as I made them. When they fit together well, it’s magical🙂

From what I could gather, Susan has a very similar taste in blocks to me. I love symmetry and coordinating fabrics too. I also prefer solids, small prints, marbles or blenders. Susan wrote to tell me she likes them and that made me very happy too🙂 I’m sure she’ll make something rather splendid when she receives all of her packages from the other swappers.

It’s time to get on with the blocks for Miss September now. I haven’t chosen which blocks yet but I’m going to be snooping around Sue’s blog for ideas very soon!

  1. I admired the blocks you made for Susan when I saw them on her blog. :- ) Everyone is doing such lovely work! I’ve made my blocks for my turn in the F2F swap; I’ll be posting them on my blog before too long, just to give anyone who wants it some ideas for what I had in mind.

    • Great! I’ll wait until I’ve seen your blocks. Even though it is Freestyle I want to make something that is to your preferred style if possible. I haven’t made any for myself yet but that is a really good idea. I had initially thought I’d try to blend in with the blocks I receive but now you’ve got me thinking. Thanks for that idea🙂

Those three blocks look perfect for Susan. They are just perfect for the colours requested. it is going to be fun to see the finished quilts when they are all done.

I never saw this post in August! I DO love the blocks, of course, but I didn’t realize how much time and effort you put in to making something that would be to my taste. You did an outstanding job! I hope I do as well for you. =)

    • Well, for me it’s all about making something that suits the recipient and one way to do that is to see what they enjoying making for themselves. I really enjoyed looking through your blog and may never have found it if we hadn’t both joined the swap. Lucky us!
