A bit of a pain!

Happy Friday everyone!

I knew I was taking a bit of a risk, starting to quilt with what seemed to be insufficient thread but where’s the fun if there’s no risk?

So guess what…….

Correct! I ran out of thread 😆

I deliberately chose to use thread that I knew I could get more of quickly if I needed to, so I’m not too disappointed really. It was worth a try.

So here it is, partly quilted and now waiting on the table to start again as soon as the postie calls 🙂

I’ve chosen to keep the quilting simple as I didn’t want to obscure the strong geometric pattern. I’ve broken the tradition of quilting an Irish Chain with straight diagonal lines. I suppose I just like curves really.

I was hoping to get the binding done over the weekend. It’ll just have to wait. Oh what a shame. I might just have to start something else 😉

I hope you all have a fabulous crafty weekend!

  1. Yes, I think starting something new would be the perfect solution to the problem of not having thread for the other.

Hi Avis! What a beauticul, cool ‘sea’ colour quilt this is – and with waves! Lovely quilting! I hope you get the thread soon to finish this beauty! Have a great weekend! x Teje

    • Hi Teje, Happy weekend to you. I’ve had your kind of morning today. I got up nice and early and made a cuppa to drink while reading a few lovely blogs. It’s a while since I’ve done that. Don’t worry, the thread will be here soon 🙂 Avis x

  3. Hi Avis! Perfect quilting as usually! I think that the waves make the quilt more lively. It matches the blues – you can see the sea moving on this quilt!

      • Running out of thread is really horrible – especially as I only can get it per internet and then wait till the mailman comes!!

        • I can imagine. My local quilting shop is about 30 miles away so I use the internet too. The site I use are very fast to dispatch orders but they are in the UK so I suppose it doesn’t help you. I’m doing a bit of black work today so I don’t mind the delay really 🙂

Your latest creation is fabulous Avis. The blue is so fresh and summery. What a pity you ran out of thread. The curves are a perfect against the squares. Hope you can finish it very soon. Now I am back from holiday and the decorating should be finished tomorrow, the quilt needs to come out and the binding hand sewn. Can’t wait to get going again.

    • Welcome back! The thread should arrive today but I haven’t been idle while waiting 😉 My black work house is almost finished. Back to quilting soon I hope. I know how you feel. I missed quilting when I was away.
