The first secret is on its way out…..

Hi everybody,

I hope you have all had some time to craft this weekend πŸ™‚

One of my secret projects, which has been developing in my head for many months (since this post), is finally on the drawing board.

For a change I will throw away my rotary cutter, rulers and all the trappings that come with piecing patchwork to try my hand at being a little more creative, perhaps….with fabric, Bondaweb, embroidery threads, beads and my dear old 1980s Toyota machine which allows me to experiment with zig-zag stitches πŸ˜†

I started with some semi-tessellating fishes.

Then added a few extra critters and a frame.

And finally, went a bit over the top with weeds πŸ™‚

So that is the plan! The secret project is finally under way or Under the Sea πŸ˜‰ I’ll keep you posted with my progress. In the meantime if you have any tips or ideas for my project, I’m all ears.

What have you all been up to? If the answer is “Not much” then take a trip over to to the Blogger’s Quilt Festival where you can nominate your favourite quilts. I am on my way over there now!

Enjoy what is left of the weekend πŸ™‚

LATEST ADDITION:

One of my lovely readers, Witchylin, has sent me a photo of a felted bag that she has made. Sew clever πŸ˜‰ I love it πŸ˜€ If my design turns out as good as her bag, I’ll be well chuffed!!

Thanks Avis for your nice words. The bubbles are different sizes of little silver beads. I needle felted the fish, weeds and rocks on to bought felt. I made the felt for the picture using the wet method. It was fun to make. The main green ‘grasses’ are just chain stitch using 6 strands of embroidery silk. I think your picture will be sew different. πŸ˜‰

        • Yes, I expect mine will be flatter and less textured. I was thinking about using beads for eyes and maybe bubbles. Who knows where this will take me. The trick will be knowing when to stop I suppose πŸ™‚

  8. This looks absolutely fun to sew! I inherrit some ugly hexies from my sisterΒ΄s motherinlaw and IΒ΄m trying to figure out what to do with them. Think IΒ΄ll follow your example and sit down and draw something to sew πŸ™‚

    • I’ve never sewn hexies but always admire those who like to hand sew. It would be nice to turn them into something nice. You’ve done it with uglies before….you can do it again πŸ˜€
I look forward to seeing them transformed. Avis x
