Wow! Look what the postie brought today!!!

Don’t you just love surprises?

Look what arrived this morning all the way from sunny Crete ๐Ÿ˜€

Teje from Nero’s Post and Patchย made these mug rugs for me. Teje has to be one of the sweetest people on this planet and she writes a wonderful blog about her sewing hobbies, her animals and more. She has entered the Blogger’s Quilt Festival with her beautiful Butterflies Quiltย and has actually sent me some extra butterflies from it! Aren’t they gorgeous?

She has constructed the butterflies using the same methods as in her quilt. Here is a view of the back which I like as much as the front ๐Ÿ™‚

My photographs don’t do them justice so you must go and take a look at the whole quilt on Teje’s blog and vote for her quilt at the Festival.

There is absolutely no way I could put a cup of tea or coffee on them. I couldn’t bear to have them stained. So I have taken a great liberty and hope Teje doesn’t mind. I haven’t mentioned that they were also beautifully wrapped in tissue paper and tied with home made tape. I’ve used the tape to make a wall-hanging for my sewing room.

Our Spring and Summer in the UK has been incredibly wet this year so we have only had a few butterflies in our garden. These have more than made up for their absence.

Thank you so much Teje ๐Ÿ™‚ I will treasure them forever ๐Ÿ˜€

Beautiful and what a lovely idea to hang them on the wall as you have done. I’m sure Teje will be very pleased.

I’m blushing here more and more … Thank you Avis for being the sweetest blog friend! I’m so happy to see that you loved those butterflies enough to hang them on a wall! They looked to me little paintings, too but I wasn’t sure if someone would think the same. I’m so happy that you got the idea and funny how that ‘ribbon’ became a beautiful loop. I hope you enjoy the colours which I picked from your latest quilt. And let they remind you of Greece, too.
    Kisses xxx Teje

I agree entirely – much too pretty to use as coffee coasters, and far prettier as a wall-hanging

    • Well, I have melamine coasters and they are a mess so there was no way these beauties were going to be getting that treatment ๐Ÿ™‚

They are really lovely. I agree with you, and everyone else, they are much too pretty to use as a mug rug. Love the idea of using the tape. A true quilter uses many tiny pieces of fabrics and you have proved yourself to be just that. Teje is a lovely person, her quilts reflect that fact. Thank you for sharing them with us.

  8. They’re beautiful!
