Hi everyone!
Just before I begin……
I have noticed that many readers from all over the world are reading my posts and browsing the tutorials etc. The only thing is, a lot of them don’t leave comments and then they are gone 😦 I sometimes look at my blog statistics and think “Oh, if only they had left a comment”, especially if they come from somewhere I need to look up because I don’t know where it is 🙂 Please feel free to join us and leave a comment so we can all chat about sewing 🙂 I’d really love to hear from you 😀
One of my lovely readers at redheadedstitcher.wordpress.com has nominated my blog for a Readership Award. Thank you so much 🙂
As usual, I will be happy to take part but will break the rules. What a rebel! I won’t be nominating any blogs but will link to some of my favourites and if they want to take the award for themselves it is up to them 🙂
I do read quite a mixed bag so here are the links in no particular order. I’m not going to describe the blogs or the writers behind them. That way there will be an element of surprise when you get there 😀 Enjoy them all. I do!
If I’ve missed anyone out, it wasn’t intentional so if you want me to link to you in my next post, just ask 😀
Have fun hopping around to see what they are all up to!
Now for another sneaky peek. I’ve finished my sampler quilt top. It isn’t pressed yet but you get the idea 🙂 If you’d like the instructions, they are in my tutorials category on the right of the page. The remaining parts will follow soon 🙂
I’ve got a busy week ahead of me, so for now, have fun crafting!

/ September 25, 2012Is this the renegade seamstress you follow? http://chicenvelopements.wordpress.com/ I couldn’t find a wordpress one.

/ September 25, 2012I just realised it is a wordpress blog just not a wordpress URL. Sorry about that. ☺
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 26, 2012Thanks for this 🙂 I’ve now corrected the link. Lovely to see you again 😀

/ September 25, 2012not to worry, you’re not the only one who has people stop by and never leave a comment ^^
guess there must be some really shy people out there lol
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 26, 2012Yeah, I know it must happen to everyone. I was just trying to encourage more people to take part because I’ve met so many lovely people on here and I think the silent few could enjoy that too 😀
Terri at Time To Be Inspired
/ September 26, 2012Congrats on your reward, and I love that you break the rules. I’ve been trying to respond to some award nominations and I really like your approach. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 26, 2012Hi Terri, I understand some people see them as chain letters or don’t want the logos cluttering up their blog. Also, most of us are just too busy to follow all the rules. This way it is win-win (I hope!) 😀 I’ve added a link to you too 🙂 Avis x

/ September 26, 2012Thanks, Avis. Much appreciated! Terri

/ September 26, 2012Well done on the award. Well deserved and thanks for the mention!!
I know what you mean about the comments, it’s so lovely to get some feedback and a bit of an idea if you are doing ok. I look at the stats which are always quite healthy and then nothing and I just think to myself that they’ve visited and gone ‘oh, not very interesting’ and move on. LOL
The quilt is looking great BTW!!

/ September 26, 2012Thanks Tiny 🙂 Well, I know they are interested by the number of visitors who look at the tutorial pages in particular, and I know they come back for more from my “Clustermap” which gives more precise locations of visitors. Just saying “Hi” would be great and very much welcomed 🙂 Spreading the lurve….. 😀

/ September 26, 2012Wow, look at that sampler! It’s amazing how complicated it looks – but actually I think even I might be able to manage it. It’s really nice the way it’s built of manageable shapes. (I’m not quite ready to tackle anything with more than 4 straight sides just yet 🙂 ) lovely set of tutorials. And thank you for the mention – very kind of you!
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 26, 2012Thank you 🙂 The blocks are large so it makes up fairly quickly. It is really worth trying to sew triangle blocks in the way I explained as it doesn’t cause the fabric to stretch as much as when sewing individual triangles together. There are so many ways to use triangles in patterns. I think they are my favourite patchwork shape but they sometimes need a bit extra maths first 🙂

/ September 26, 2012Hi Avis! Congratulations and thank you for linking to my blog! It’s great that you are not affraid to brake the rules because often we want to join but just can’t find the time at the moment. I’m so happy that you are my blog friend because it’s always so nice to ‘chat’ with you! I thought I have more time in September but this has still been grazy and too hot month. I think many visitors don’t blog and they may think they don’t know how to leave a comment – let’s try to encourage them to join!
Hugs to Archie and you! x Teje
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 26, 2012Hi Teje, I’m not sure I could have accepted without breaking the rules as, like most people, I have little spare time at the moment. I’m so lucky to have you as a friend Teje 😀 So many times you have mentioned things on your blog or in comments and I say “That’s just like me!” I couldn’t begin to tell you all of the things as there are so many 😀 Let’s hope more readers will say “hello” on all the blogs and join the fun. Maybe they are afraid of becoming addicted to blogging he-he. Virtual hugs to you and yours too 😀 Avis x

/ September 26, 2012… sorry, forgot to say that your quilt top is so beautiful! I love all the blocks and hopefully can make this pattern … x Teje

/ September 26, 2012Congratulations on winning the award. Congratulations also on breaking the rules. You have included more links to people you feel are worth reading, much better than just nominating one person.
Love the quilt top now that it is completed. It is stunning. 🙂
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 26, 2012Thanks Lin 🙂 I have decided on a white backing with cotton wadding. The front is to be quilted with variegated turquoise and the back with a pale linen shade. I still haven’t decided exactly how to quilt it but I do have some ideas 😉 It is always difficult to nominate blogs and I could have linked to about 100 but had to exercise restraint 🙂 I didn’t link to any of the crochet blogs I read and there are some really stunning ones. Enjoy browsing! Avis x

/ September 27, 2012Avis, congratulations on your award and thanks for linking up to my blog. I love your quilt, it is very striking! Give Archie a big kiss for me!

/ September 27, 2012You are very welcome Lora 🙂 We got soaked on our walk this morning! He didn’t seem to mind one bit 😀

/ September 27, 2012Oh it’s looking great… Very graphic (is that the right word?). I know exactly what you mean about meeting lovely people through blogging. I have definitely made lots of new friends and its especially nice to find like minded people because you don’t always find them in real life. Thank you for mentioning my blog ;D
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 27, 2012Graphic sounds good to me. I started to quilt it today then unpicked it all. I was experimenting really so it is my own fault. Hopefully I’ll be able to start again tomorrow 🙂 You hit the nail on the head with “like minded people”. The wonders of the world wide web 😀

/ September 27, 2012I’m just now getting a bit caught up with my dear “bloggy” friends….and imagine my surprise! Avis, you really ‘made my day’ is such a wonderful way! I have also experienced many faceless visitors (a couple of them are very ‘local’….you know who you are..hehe!). I agree with Teje…some are not bloggers and may not know how to comment(?) or just so time crunched that they only have time for a quick in/out.
Love you sampler quilt and the colors, as I may have already said, have been my faves for years. Blessings and hugs, Doreen
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 29, 2012Me too! I’m way behind with reading 🙂
I agree with both of you about some people not knowing but one of my readers two days ago took 18 images…..no “like”, no “thank you”, no “comment”. I don’t want to get grumpy about it because life is far too short for that, so when you read this (and I have your IP address so I know who you are) you are very welcome to them until you break my copyright 😀 Have a lovely weekend Doreen! Thank you for your lovely comments as usual 🙂 Avis x

/ October 1, 2012Sorry to hear about the unauthorized “borrowing”! Must really be new to this, though, cuz (as you pointed out) the ‘footprint’/’fingerprint’ was left as evidence!!!

/ September 29, 2012I just wanted to drop a line and let you know that I love your block series and want to thank you for posting all the tutorials. I’m sorry I don’t always comment but will try to more often in future! 😀
Oh Sew Tempting
/ September 29, 2012Don’t be sorry 🙂 I was really aiming my comments at the invisibles (Well, they think they are anyway!) 😀
